The European parliament defines Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as “The responsibility of enterprises for their impact on society” and adds that “to fully meet their corporate social responsibility, enterprises should have in place a process to integrate social, environmental, ethical and human rights concerns into their business operations and core strategy in close collaboration with their stakeholders.”

3 CEO statement VIKING’s annual corporate social responsibility report reviews the company’s goals and progress in this important area. During 2014, we have embarked on a number of new initiatives, refining and reinventing many of our policies and processes to advance our continued protection of both people and business. VIKING is fortunate to have a socially oriented agenda at the very heart of the company: A mission and unrelenting quest to protect and save human lives all over the world. Additionally, we have the advantage of being well consolidated, which provides a long-term strategic view as well as a long tradition of supporting the communities in which we work. While these factors can provide a strong platform for our strategy, VIKING actively works to find new ways to lift our CSR performance. In 2014, we have continued to strengthen and even more closely unite the VIKING organization around the world – a prerequisite for continuing to work sustainably and ethically in a global and highly competitive market. We have identified opportunities to lift our CSR efforts in, for example, waste management, recycling, transport and paper consumption, and we are allocating resources to realize this potential. This report represents the statutory statement for VIKING Life-Saving Equipment A/S within social responsibility for the financial year 1 January 31 December 2014, and is included as part of the management statement in the 2014 financial reports.
