COMPACT POWERHOUSE AND ALL-ROUND PERFORMER. The CB500X features the engine you need to explore any type of road. Powerful, agile and efficient even on longer journeys: it gives you the freedom you’ve been dreaming of. And just like its larger CBR siblings, an assist slipper clutch eases upshifts and manages the rear wheel lock-up on hard down changes. 10 1. LONG TRAVEL SUSPENSION Whether you want to take a brief trip through the rough city streets or explore the endless vistas of the open road, the CB500X is ready. Its 41 mm telescopic forks and ProLink rear monoshock offer smooth, extended travel to absorb hits. Both are adjustable for spring preload, tailoring the steering geometry to accommodate a pillion and full luggage. 2. INFORMATION DISPLAY When you’re exploring the open road, you need a clear, concise information panel. The CB500X features a new, attractive negative-display LCD dash to alleviate any tensions you might have. It includes a speedo and revcounter, dual trip meters, fuel level and consumption gauges and a Gear Position indicator. 3. EASY HANDLING Adventure is all about infinite freedom. But freedom is meaningless if your ride is uncomfortable. The CB500X’s steel diamondtube frame has a tuned rigidity balance to enhance feedback. The engine is close to the swingarm pivot point for easy handling. The seat height is 810 mm, which makes the riding position upright and relaxed, offering excellent forward visibility and control. 4. TOUGH ABILITY The CB500X is built to handle a wide variety of terrain. An increased minimum ground clearance improves riding performance on rough roads, and an extra three degrees of turning angle on the handlebars gives you outstanding handling when riding narrow roads and making U-turns. The top of the windscreen has been raised to offer better wind protection during high-speed cruising. Additionally, the front wheel is now 19 inches, for stability and roll-over ability when tackling rough surfaces, paired with a 17-inch rear wheel. Dirt roads, motorways, city streets— wherever you’re riding, block pattern tyres complement the long travel suspension and offer tenacious grip and feedback. 5. BRAKING CONTROL Without control, power is useless. The new CB500X features a single front 320 mm wavy disc and powerful two-piston brake calliper matched to a 240 mm rear disc and singlepiston calliper. Dual channel ABS is fitted as standard. Now you can easily manage braking force in wet or dry conditions. 6. TWIN-CYLINDER ENGINE The 8-valve, liquid-cooled parallel twincylinder engine’s internal structure is very similar to that of the CBR100RR Fireblade. It produces 35kW @ 8,500rpm - making it A2 licence compliant - with peak torque of 43Nm @ 7,000rpm. Revised camshafts and valve lift have increased low- and mid-range torque for faster acceleration.
