The following applies if the actuator is used with valves that entails a risk of personal injury: The manufacturer of the valve is responsible for implementing suitable safety measures to prevent the risk of personal injury and possible consequential dam- ages/losses in the event of actuator failure. The same goes for both the actuator itself and the combined application. Warning! The plastic components in the system cannot withstand the effects of cutting oil. © 2022 LINAK ® A/S 6

7 Description of the system The system consists of the Water valve Control Unit (WCU), one actuator and an optional Battery Backup (WCU-UPS). The system is intended to be included in a valve solution for regulation of the flow, whereby the function is to open and close a valve (quarter-turn valve, sluice gate, slide gate, gate- and knife gate valves) using an electrical linear actuator with appurtenant control. The actuator’s task is to transfer mechanical force to produce the movement needed to open/close a valve. The WCU’s function is to supply the actuator with the correct voltage and current, to enable the control of the actuator’s stroke length (equivalent to the aperture of the valve), to protect the actuator and valve from being overloaded and to give feedback signal (actuator’s position). Both the WCU and the Battery Backup can be mounted externally where they are easy to access. The WCU can be operated manually (service and repair) or remotely via a cable for automatic operation (SCADA). 4 3 1 56 7 2 SCADA / PLC Power supply 1) WCU 2) Actuator 3) Battery Backup (WCU-UPS) 4) Position indicator.
