4 good reasons to organise at work Local organising makes for better workplaces – in both the public and private sectors In Denmark, there is a long tradition of organising at work. This is necessary because Denmark for instance has no minimum wage or working time legislation other than the Working Environment Act. The Danish labour market is characterised by a high degree of cooperation and trust between the parties. In the workplace, many employees are organised in company groups or academic clubs – also known just as “clubs”. In many public sector workplaces, there is already a union representative with a mandate to negotiate on behalf of his or her colleagues, but there are still many benefits to setting up a club to support the work of the union representative.
