1. You get a better cooperation with the management It is a myth that local organising creates more conflict in the workplace. On the contrary, it creates a more harmonious workplace when you as employees can go to management with your wishes and needs together. It also makes it easier for management to communicate decisions to all employees through the club. Finally, it can also enable you as employees to be consulted in the works council (samarbejdsudvalget), which is a forum where management and employees can discuss themes such as development, well-being, and efficiency together. 2. You get a forum for discussing various topics Clubs are a good forum for discussing anything from working environment to salary negotiation. After the corona pandemic many members, for instance, used the clubs to discuss how working from home has effected the psychological working environment. Being represented in a club can also provide an opportunity to be consulted by management in the event of for example redundancies. 3. You get a better knowledge of Danish working culture For many international professionals in Denmark, it can be difficult to understand the many norms and unwritten rules of the Danish labour market. Here, a workplace club gives you the opportunity to discuss your experiences across cultures and to gain a better understanding of, for example, how to balance expectations about responsibilities and tasks with your manager. 4. You get a closer network between colleagues Most clubs organise professional events where they bring in external speakers with the support of IDA. There is often also a social element to clubs, which make it possible to network and meet with colleagues from across the workplace. This is particularly beneficial for international employees who do not have a large network in Denmark. › Learn more about IDA english.ida.dk
