Learn more Product X – reducing methane emissions from cattle A greener agriculture is on everyone’s lips and massive investments are made in green production methods and new technology set to curb climate change. Cattle producers are facing challenges in the large volumes of methane emissions from cattle. With methane being one of the most potent short-lived climate pollutants, the potential is large to make an immediate impact to reduce climate changes and thus contribute to reducing the environmental impact from food production. “Product X”– the name of the product in the development phase – plays a key role in solving the challenge. The reduction in methane was reached without reducing the feed intake and milk yield. Up to 30% reduction in methane emissions The initial laboratory tests involving Product X showed great ability to reduce methane emission. Following, feeding experiment results have showed, that it is possible to reduce methane emissions by about 30% per kg of milk. Product X will undergo large-scale testing in research facilities to obtain documentation that the product is registered at EU-level as a feed additive favourably affecting the environmental impact of the animal.
