SMALL THREAD SCISSORS It is always a good idea to have thread scissors close at hand to trim loose threads as you work. TAILOR’S CHALK no. 46515 Use tailor’s chalk to draw around your pattern pieces before you start to cut your fabric. Remember to mark darts, notches and other pattern markings accurately. Good groundwork is essential for a good result. SEWING NEEDLES Always use a sharp sewing needle for hand sewing. A sharp needle makes sewing easier and you avoid damaging the fabric. no. 42096 THREAD Always buy good quality thread – a great help in all kinds of projects. Cheap thread tends to split and break as you work. TAILOR’S SCISSORS TAPE MEASURE You will most definitely need a tape measure – to take body measurements and measure up your fabric. Never settle for anything less than good tailor’s scissors. A sharp cutting blade is important when cutting fabric. In some cases, a poor choice of needle can damage the fabric. Make a habit of put- ting needles back into the pack after use to avoid getting them mixed up.
