Engineered Aramid Protection VIKING IQ™ is a proprietary aramid outer shell fabric developed in collaboration with the textile specialist IBENA® to deliver high thermal protection, durability and comfort in challenging firefighting conditions. The fabric uses a modified ripstop construction, combining Nomex® and para-aramid fibers in a unique grid structure. This design strengthens the fabric while maintaining flexibility and breathability. Nomex® fibers are known for their heat resistance and flexibility, making them ideal for protective clothing. When exposed to heat and flame, the fibers change structure, helping preserve thermal protection and the barrier against heat transfer. The para-aramid grid provides strength and durability and are commonly used in high-performance applications. When exposed to heat, these fibers help retain thermal insulation and prevent break-open, while supporting the fabric’s lightweight structure.
