THE VIKING WAY 3 A s a leading manufacturer of maritime safety for the global market and with our base in a very well-regulated society, VIKING Life-Saving Equipment A/S has the ideal conditions for setting high standards in product quality, climate impact, humanity and social responsibility. Leveraging our industry-leading global reach – and inspired by Denmark’s high climate ambitions – we strive to play a leading role in protecting the Earth’s resources and practicing good corporate governance wherever we are. Our mission is to protect and save lives, and our business model reflects an innovative and sustainable approach to developing products with a high level of safety, more environmentally friendly materials and excellent longevity. Our business model remains firmly rooted, even in the face of the global COVID-19 health crisis, and our products endure, even in the most extreme weather conditions. Our approach to sustainability goes far beyond the lowest-hanging fruits, such as replacing light bulbs and installing solar panels on our factory roofs. Sustainability is an integral component of BP25 – our business plan for the coming years – and we intend to further reduce our climate footprint. We take a structural approach throughout the value chain, and environmental targets now accompany our financial and commercial targets. Before the end of 2022, we will have established a detailed understanding of how much CO2 each of our products emits throughout their life cycle, from cradle to grave. This will provide us with a baseline for our ambition of VIKING becoming a carbon- neutral business by 2030 – and preferably years before that. Our purpose in this world is to protect and save lives. A natural extension of this mission is to make our contribution to protecting – and rescuing – the planet from global warming and other human impacts on our climate. We are thereby in line with our customers, who are increasingly seeking and demanding green solutions, including for the materials we use and for the recycling of our products as they reach end-of- life.
