Combining onboard and onshore training for efficiency and cost savings Theoretical training and practical exercises are done onboard the vessel, ensuring learning at their own pace throughout the 5 year period. Onshore training is reduced to a minimum only including elements required by IMO to be done onshore. This provides significant cost savings for shipowners. Studies estimate that 80% of the transport accidents are due to human error. Many situations could be avoided with proper training. The STCW 2010 Amendments include refresher training of the existing competence tables. These new requirements are mandatory for all seafarers. We are ready - are you?
