Unmatched metal removal rates The unique flute geometry of the solid end mill Stabilizer series reduces vibration in the machining process and increases the overall stability for more productivity. The SIRON-A coating enhances wear resistance, particularly abrasion wear, and boosts tool life. Geometry plus coating result in reduced cycle times with high metal removal rates in 2D applications, including slot, pocket and side milling. Key benefits • High feed rates • Reduced cycle times with higher MRR • Minimized harmonics • High heat and abrasion resistance coating • Smooth chatter free cutting • Long and predictable tool life • Consistent performance in all applications • Chipsplitters available • Ramping capability up to 30° ramp angle Industry Segments • Aerospace • Automotive • General Machining • Medical

As a rule of thumb for the ST5541 4-flute series, a minimum of 20% of the diameter of the tool should be utilized. If the part and/or machine configuration does not allow for this large step-over, the recommended starting feed rates should be doubled to increase cutting pressure. The ST5551 5-flute series can be an alternative solution to the ST5541 as it is suitable for both roughing and finishing as well as slot milling, helical ramping, and face milling cuts. Toolholders & fixturing The large cutting pressure of the Stabilizer series demands secure tool holders and fixturing. An anti-pull-out system is the first choice when high performance milling is applied: Side lock holders, milling chucks and shrinkfit holders ensure that the tools are secure and provide optimal run-out. As a second option, some high precision collet systems and heavy-duty reinforced hydraulic chucks can be considered. However, the pull-out is important to be considered. Rigid fixturing and clamping will help ensure that the workpiece stays fastened to the machining table. Machine requirements Being aware of machine tool limitations and horsepower consumption rates prior to implementing HPM strategies is crucial for success. These methods need higher levels of horsepower and torque compared to standard milling strategies. Pushing machine tools past their limits can lead to catastrophic failures.
