“T he subject of sustainability is one I am very passionate about.” WELCOME ! Reads: A lot! Right now All the light we cannot see by Anthony Doerr and The wisdom of leadership by Per Winblad Watches: Very little TV. Last movies I saw were A star is born and Bohemian rhapsody Favorite app: Swish payment app Keeping up with A.I. If you are familiar with Edge, you will know that the subject of sustainability is one I am very passionate about. The United Nations has set global goals for 2030, and Seco is following suit by focusing on the seven most important goals relevant to manufacturing and our role in society. See pages 24—25 to read more about Seco’s areas of focus. I am also very excited to learn about the prospect of electric planes. There are already more than 100 projects in the pipeline worldwide to get electric or hybrid aircraft off the ground, and I am watching these developments with anticipation. Staying with aerospace, you can read about Seco’s latest innovation for milling composite stacked materials used in the aerospace industy, pages 17—19. These lighter combinations provide equal or greater structural strength compared with metal components. Another subject we cover in this issue is artificial intelligence, or A.I. as it is commonly known. The world is currently on the cusp of an A.I. boom, and experts predict that in coming years it will have a major impact on the health, industry and sustainability sectors. For more on other areas that A.I. is expected to affect, see pages 4—9. In keeping with this issue’s A.I. theme, we interviewed a principal researcher at telecom giant Ericsson, Rebecka Cedering Ångström. How ethical is A.I. and what are its risks? You can read that interview on pages 10—11. It seems like the world is an increasingly fast-paced, busy place. I would like to invite you to sit back every so often, put your feet up and have a read through the latest edition of Edge.
