TIME TO CLEAR THE AIR Letting people travel more sustainably is not just about getting them on a bus. It’s about getting them on the right bus. Transports are a major source of global fossil CO , NO x (nitrogen oxides) and local particulate emissions. On the bright side, that means the transport sector can also be a major contributor towards reducing these emissions. For Scania, sustainability always goes hand in hand with profitability. Because emission reductions will come with the best possible total operating economy; lowering the fuel consumption with efficient driving, market-leading engine technology and by using one of the most cost efficient alternative fuels available. Looking at your transport needs from a wider perspective also means using cutting-edge connected services to improve in all areas possible. Connected buses are efficient buses. 2 NATURAL GAS AND BIOGAS Scania gas buses run on methane gas, which is not only substantially better for the environment in terms of CO but also extremely low in particulate emissions. And no matter if it comes extracted as natural gas, or sustainably produced as biogas – it can be used in either compressed or liquid form. Natural gas and biogas can therefore be used in parallel, and existing infrastructure used for natural gas can easily be switched to biogas as the production increases and larger quantities are available.
