SimplyFly – #9, 2018 15 level. The service offering can be extended to include parts repair, maintenance tools and customised modification kits. How to use data for calculating demand for spares inventory and stock levels Satair has visibility to worldwide demand and maintenance schedules. With the increasing deployment of IMS, we also have a ground-level understanding of demand as it relates to specific fleets, visits and even tail numbers. Armed with this and other data, we have several projects underway to utilise global airline data to optimise inventories across the various regions. These “big data” projects are looking to enhance predictability of need to advance material planning from the use of historic demand alone. Aircraft systems allow us to monitor the health of equipped aircraft throughout their life, increasing our ability to predict and prevent significant maintenance events. It also allows us to be prepared with the material required to rectify the defect observed. These technologies, as they relate to the supply chain, allow us to remove variability within the network. Less variability means more precise planning and control of inventory. Paul Lochab Chief Commercial Officer Satair
