Appointment for Fibroscan You have been summoned for a fibroscan of your liver. A fibroscan is the same as an ultrasound examination, where a microphone with a vibrator will be placed over the liver to measure the stiffness of your liver. Partly this can be used to decide on appropriate treatment and to some extent, to follow the development of your liver disease in the longer term to avoid fibrosis. The day of examination The examination takes approx. 10 to 15 minutes. But you must be prepared to spend one hour in case we are able to give you the results of the scan on the same day. The scan involves no discomfort or side effects. However, you should note that if you have excessive amounts of water in your body or you are severely overweight, the examination may not be successful. Do not eat or drink 3 hours before the scan.
