Reading guide OUH LINKS – Strategic Innovation in Healthcare is a cornucopia of knowledge, sharing positive and less positive experiences, recommendations and not least a zest for innovation. The book has come into being because we at Odense University Hospital (OUH) are dedicated to working with strategic innovation, and we see a need for a more strategic approach to innovation in the Danish healthcare sector. OUH’s work with strategic innovation is coordinated by the innovation unit under our Department of Clinical Development. The title OUH LINKS refers both to the links that are necessary for innovation to take place: links between healthcare professionals in hospitals, in local administrations and in general practice, researchers, companies, innovation consultants – with our patients as co-creators and ultimately the beneficiaries of our innovation efforts. In the same vein, the book is an attempt to create new links in our innovation networks and inspire more strategic innovation – for the benefit of all of us as we come into contact with the healthcare sector from time to time. Structure The book presents contributions from a select group of experts with experience in health innovation. Choosing our contributors has been difficult as we are surrounded by many smart people, highly valued partners and innovative ideators – so this is simply a small selection of people from our network at OUH. You can read the book from cover to cover, or you can dip into the sections that seem most relevant to you. Each chapter is colour-coded, so it is easy to find from the table of contents. In addition, all chapters begin with a summary. The book opens with a presentation of all of the authors and their background, so you are familiar with them before reading their chapters. 7
