MUELLER® GAS PHUSE® FEATURES 7.1 Shaded area indicates change Rev. 12-06 Normal Flow Excess Flow MUELLER® GAS-PHUSE EXCESS FLOW VALVE FEATURES In response to a rupture or other uncontrolled gas flow in the service line, the Mueller Gas-Phuse Excess Flow Valve is designed to shut off gas flow at the main. This helps to decrease the hazards associated with such situations and avoids pressure loss in the main. When properly sized and installed, the Gas-Phuse valve permits gas flow within the normal range of the service line, and will accommodate normal flow fluctuations. In the event of excess flow outside this range, the valve shuts off gas flow until repairs are made and the device is reset. Operation of the valve is simple. When gas flow is within the design range of the Gas-Phuse device, gas passes around the ball unimpeded. However, if flow exceeds this as it would when the service line is ruptured, the excess gas flow forces the ball from the magnet and onto the seat, shutting off gas flow.
