Learning something new every day During her employment, Emma has been allowed to try various tasks such as designing components for the nacelle, testing components in the nearby prototype workshop and coding a program used by the other design engineers to calculate stresses in the beams. “At university, you have to follow the study plan, but here, I am allowed to explore various aspects of my field and figure out what is most exciting to me. It helps me grow, and I am learning something new every day,” she says. A field under constant development Emma has been interested in wind power since her time of study, for several reasons. “Renewable energy is the future. Making our planet greener makes sense to me,” she says and adds: | 173 “From a technical point of view, a wind turbine is a very complex machine, and it is a field that is constantly evolving. It never stands still. Right now, we are in the idea phase of developing a new wind turbine, and we are pulling the concept apart and rethinking it to see what we can do better. As a young newcomer, there is room for you to ask questions and make suggestions that shake up the process, because everyone is so welcoming.”
