That is the main reason why 26-year-old Aleksandrs Levi joined KMD’s graduate programme immediately upon his graduation as an MSc in Computer Science in 2019. »I knew about KMD’s involvement in the public sector, and to me, it was – and still is – very interesting to develop software that is used by millions of people and helps improve their lives, « he says and adds: »I chose the graduate programme because it is designed for professional development and learning. You are not supposed to know everything from the beginning. « SMOOTH TRANSITION FROM UNIVERSITY TO JOB Aleksandrs chose SAP as the path for his graduate programme. Together with the entire team of graduates, he spent the first month participating in introductory courses on KMD and the industry, and then he spent a few months studying for his SAP certification. »I liked how the programme started with a mix of social activities and education. It made for a smooth transition between the university and my job, « he says. Subsequently, Aleksandrs participated in a few internal projects, most of which were aimed at developing integration between SAP and other systems. After one year, he was onboarded on a big project for SKAT. »It involved the connection between different systems in SKAT’s IT landscape as well as integration with many external systems, « he explains. STILL LEARNING AS A FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE Once he had completed the graduate programme after one and a half years, Aleksandrs was offered a full-time position as SAP Integration Consultant. Once again, he experienced a smooth transition: »I continued to work on the same projects, and I still have the same manager. Today, I am assigned to multiple projects regarding SAP integration. I enjoy collaborating with my colleagues and solving problems which are quite tricky sometimes. I keep learning new things. «
