• Payroll negotiations • Strengthening relationships between STEM professionals and other academics at the workplace • A member of the board of the company group may serve as a companion in cases of warnings, dismissals or changes of terms and conditions. • Exchanging information and views on conditions at the company, e.g. technology agreements, safety work, etc. Are academic clubs an option? At many workplaces, STEM professionals work together with other academic groups. These groups will usually have comparable salary and employment conditions. In many cases, it would therefore be prudent to collaborate on safeguarding interests. One way of doing this is to form an academic club (in Danish "AK") instead of a club only for STEM professionals (company group). How does IDA help company groups? From the first initiative to form a group, to deciding on objectives and statutes, and starting the first activities – IDA is with you all the way, if needed, also with financial support. Specific, IDA offers support in the following ways: • IDA will guide the company group on how to approach specific cases • IDA will take care of the practicalities of approving the company group's statutes and announcing the company group to the company. • IDA offers complete union representative training • IDA can negotiate directly with the company's management on behalf of the company group. However, experience shows that most problems are best solved locally between the company group and management. IDA will, of course, provide advice and guidance during the process. • IDA will provide financial support to IDA members who are members of the company group board/academic club board and who are dismissed due to their work as elected representatives. • IDA will provide financial support for activities in company groups and academic clubs. Financial support is granted for meetings of members, courses, etc. IDA will cover transport costs, meals and possible speakers within a specified framework. How to get started Forming a company group may seem like a lot of work. IDA therefore has employees who are ready to help you form a company group or an academic club.
