1. INTRODUCTION Integrated security is the collection of security measures that should be part of your security solutions in order to help achieve the best possible security programme. At G4S, we describe integrated security as ‘our combination of expertise, security professionals, technology and data analytics, to manage risks and enhance value for our customers’. To design integrated security you first need to understand the relation between the principal security effects. In the industry, there are differing opinions on what the principal security effects are. At G4S, our view is that ‘detect, delay and respond’ form the backbone effects of any integrated security programme. Principal security effects have always existed and are exactly the same as they were thousands of years ago. What has constantly developed, and therefore changed, are the security solutions. To further assist in designing integrated security programmes we have developed the G4S Integrated Security Model that we will describe in this guide. Figure 1 - Principal Security Effects 1
