Pre-occupation material for poultry Animal welfare is becoming increasingly important in poultry production. Poultry behavior is an indication of their welfare status. It’s very important to give the animals the opportunity to express their natural behaviors. Pecking is one of the natural behaviors of poultry, so in modern poultry production this needs to be satified. To avoid severe feather pecking or even cannibalism, but also to give meaning to an higher animal welfare level. PECKStone is an easy, effective, inexpensive and safe pre-occupation material with huge advantages for all kind of poultry. PECKStone To well adapt to the age and behavior of the birds, different types of PECKStones are available. Minerals make up to 95% of the composition of the PECKStones, so if stored cool and dry they can last very long APPLICATION RECOMMENDATIONS How to set up: First remove the PECKStone out of its bowl. For birds up to about 10 weeks of age and small size birds: • Place the PECKStone directly on the bedding. For birds from about 10 weeks of age and medium size birds: • Place the PECKStone on top of the flipped bowl. For larger size birds (as turkeys) a special hanging element is available to hang PECKStones at a suitable height for the birds. • Therefore, the PECKStones HARD , EXTRA HARD and AKTIV are also available with hole in the centre of the PECKStone, so they can be used in combination with this hanging element. Recommended use: 1 PECKStone per 500 to 800 birds - for controlling pecking behavior. 1 PECKStone per 1000 birds - for improving animal welfare. Peckstone
