Evaluation of a trial performed in collaboration with a large Danish pig producer (Poldanor) The trial was preformed in weaner piglets houses. All involved sections was prior to test, cleaned and disinfected with liquid disinfection (Aldekol). Newly weaned piglets at 5 - 6 kg was introduced in all sections. All piglets was from the same sow unit and no visual difference was observed between the piglets. In the trial, two product was tested against each other and control. Dezosan (Calcium sulphate based product) and Stalosan F. The trial was performed in 2003 and the addition of the products was done by the blower. The dosage was approx. 50 g/m 2 the first three days and thereafter on a week. Section 2 and 7: Control Section 1: Dezosan Section 3 and 8: Stalosan F Trial results: Section 7 8 1 2 3 Treatment Control Stalosan F Dezosan Control Stalosan F Introduced pigs 1855 Start weight Sales weight Weight gain 5,3 28,6 23,3 1857 5,6 28,8 23,2 1755 5,7 30,6 24,9 1769 5,8 30,7 24,9 1856 6,1 29,7 23,6 Mortality 45 20 49 43 28 Section 7 8 1 2 3 Treatment Control Stalosan F Dezosan Control Stalosan F Total house weight gain 43221,5 43082,4 43699,5 44048,1 43801,6 Mortality % 2,43 1,08 2,79 2,43 1,51 Since all sections recieved the amount of feed, one would suspect that the variation in feed gain was slightly dependend on the population of piglets in each section. This is also the case in section 3, 7 and 8, where the number of piglets is approx. 100 higher compared to section 1 and 2.
