In recent years our breeders have developed varieties with higher levels of digestible fibre which we call FIBER ENERGY. This allows a ruminant animal to extract more energy from every kilogram of dry matter than before, leading to greater production of meat or milk. The prolonged drought conditions experienced during 2018 also highlighted the benefits of using festuloliums in mixtures, also known by DLF as “PLUS Grasses”. DLF have pioneered the breeding of this species, with high yields and much greater drought tolerance.
