EXCELLENT SHADE-TOLERANCE In trials, our latest 4turf® varieties exhibited greater shade-tolerance. Even at reduced levels of light of just 60% PAR (photosynthetic active radiation), they showed greater ground cover and wear-tolerance, which is ideal for pitches with limited access to sunlight. ATTRACTIVE DEEP GREEN COLOUR AND MORE EFFICIENT USE OF NITROGEN 4turf® varieties exhibit a more attractive green colour than traditional diploid perennial ryegrass varieties. 4turf®’s leaves are a deeper and glossier green, which improves the visual appearance favouring the spectators. With an improved cellular structure and more efficient photosynthesis, 4turf® varieties keep their colour all year round, even when winter light levels are low. Better colour and increased root mass also mean that 4turf® is a more efficient user of nitrogen. That’s good for the environment and for your maintenance costs because 4turf® needs less nitrogen fertiliser to maintain its good visual quality. STRONGER ROOTING FOR ENHANCED STRESS-TOLERANCE AND LESS WATERING 4turf® needs less water during a drought. Its larger root system and natural water reserves help it stay greener for longer. This cuts your maintenance costs and makes for more sustainable turf management. 4turf® varieties are not just drought-tolerant, they also recover quicker when the rain returns. Drought trials conducted in the Loire Valley in France confirmed that 4turf® varieties were significantly more drought- tolerant than diploid perennial ryegrasses. Perennial ryegrass 2n ENHANCED SALT-TOLERANCE FOR COASTAL AREAS AND IRRIGATION Clean irrigation water is a scarce resource, and one that is likely to become even more scarce in the future. Whether the salinity in your pitch comes from irrigation water, sea spray, or salt in the soil, our 4turf® varieties could be the answer. If there is too much salt in the soil, ordinary grass won’t grow to its full potential. In contrast, 4turf® varieties are proven to be significantly more salt-tolerant than traditional diploid perennial ryegrass varieties, which leads to better plant growth, healthy looking turf, and a better playing surface.

TURF FOR EVERY STADIUM AND SPORTS ARENA Although 4turf® is relatively new to the amenity market, it has become hugely popular among groundsmen. For numerous grounds managers, 4turf® is their first-choice grass seed. Across the world, sports fans have seen how well 4turf® performs at the highest levels of international sport. 4turf® blends well with other grasses. 4turf® varieties can be mixed with diploid perennial ryegrass varieties, fescues and meadow-grass for a beautiful resilient playing surface that is easier and cheaper to maintain. They also help to protect the environment because they need less water, nitrogen, or chemicals. SATISFACTION AT AFC AJAX After the positive noises I heard from England, we started to use mixtures with 4turf® for reseeding and overseeding both the hybrid and the traditional sports pitches of Ajax. And with clear results! The rapid establishment and growth of 4turf® ensures a good competition with unwanted weed development. Which means less time and energy is wasted to avoid this. A higher disease tolerance contributes to a reduced disease pressure. The salt tolerance ensures that it continues to grow well even with the use of salinity water. Also, the diploid and tetraploid grasses are hardly distinguishable by colour, even the fineness of leaves of 4turf® has improved over the years. The combination of tetraploid and diploid grass ensures a nice and evenly closed pitch. After working for two years with 4turf® I am very satisfied with the results Martin Brummel · Grounds Manager, AFC Ajax · The Netherlands SWANSEA CITY FC Over the years Swansea City have been regular users of the Johnsons J Rescue Stadia mix, across the stadium and our training facilities. It’s a brilliant winter mix, that performs well in numerous environments and covers all bases when it comes to cultivars. Fast establishment is really important for us with high usage levels and quick turnarounds, and that’s exactly what we get with this mix. The tetraploids also help to give us extra strength, with little kick out, and brilliant disease tolerance which, with the impact of climate change, is a must.
