2 1942 | FDB furniture was founded with architect and designer Børge Mogensen as the first Creative Manager. 1944 | The first furniture collection “By the people, for the people”. The philosophy was to produce high quality furniture that could be manufactured at affordable prices. 1947 | FDB bought the factory - Tarm Chairs and Furniture. The factory had been a supplier for FDB for years, but purchasing the factory made it easier for FDB to manage and control the quality and pricing. 1950’s’ | with more than 2,000 selling points, FDB was the biggest furniture company in Denmark. 1967 | In the 1960s, things started to change. Lifestyle magazines focussed on steel furniture and strong colours. FDB’s modern furniture lost its popular position. 2019 | We want to be Denmark’s most responsible furniture company. That is why all our wood is FSC ® - certified. Stewardship of our forests means not taking from nature without giving back. 1980 | After some turbulent years with rising competition and a change in consumer trends, the factory in Tarm was sold and the last piece of furniture was produced in 1980. 2013 | COOP (formerly FDB) relaunched FDB as FDB Møbler in Denmark, bringing back many of the old designer classics with instant success. 2022 | With the ambition to expand internationally, the first FDB Møbler Flagship store outside Denmark opened in Hamburg in the autumn of 2022
