EXPANSION JOINT DESIGNS FOR NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS The Expansion Joint type and design is determined by the point of installation and the specifications as well as the purpose of the Expansion Joint. For Nuclear Power Plants Belman see the following types often used: • Universal Expansion Joints • Axial Expansion Joints • Tied Double Bellows • Lateral Expansion Joints • Crossover Piping Bellows • Elbow Pressure Balanced Expansion Joints • Ring Reinforced Expansion Joints Customised Nuclear Expansion Joint solutions Expansion Joints are used on various applications in the nuclear industry and typically installed by the pumps, steam turbines and in transmission lines overall in the system including utility, secondary system as well as the primary system. The design and features of the Expansion Joints are very different from project to project. Belman is highly specialised in finding and designing the best customised solution for the client and the nuclear application in question. DIMENSIONS & MATERIALS FOR EXPANSION JOINTS FOR NUCLEAR Belman Expansion Joints for nuclear are available with the following design data: Dimensions: DN 25 - 12.000. Pressure: From full vacuum up to 150 barG or more if required. Temperature: Design temperature range from -256°C to +1000°C Materials For some projects austenitic stainless steel is preferred whe- reas for other projects special steel grades are needed. As the media in areas of the system is radioactive the materials used for Expansion Joints for nuclear power plants are mainly austenitic stainless steels with low cobalt content. Furthermore, high alloys such as 254 SMO, AISI 904L and Incoloy are used for piping systems in areas where the medium is seawater. Belman can design and manufacture Expansion Joints in materials as per client, application, and/ or project requests. EXPANSION JOINTS SINCE 1994 Since 1994 Belman has specia- lised in the design and manufacture of cost-efficient customised Expansion Joints for clients across industries worldwide. This has established Belman as a recognised provider of customised Expansion Joints for the client’s specific requirement and/or project.
