Alfa Laval has spent a century perfecting these solutions around the globe and some 50 years of experience in tailoring inert gas solutions for offshore vessels. Continuous improvements result from engineering know-how, listening to customer needs, ongoing dialogue with classification societies on new standards and product development. Highly efficient steam, heat and power generation Alfa Laval brings you the broadest portfolio of steam and hot-water boilers, thermal fluid systems, exhaust gas economizers after diesel engines, waste heat recovery units after gas turbines, oil- and gas-fired burners, safety and control systems, and heat exchangers available today. These solutions are designed for installation in safe or hazardous areas. Ensuring safety with inert gas systems Alfa Laval expertise dates back to the introduction of IMO legislation on inert gas system. Since setting the industry standard for inert gas generators and systems for the tanker industry, we’ve steadily increased efficiency, ease of operation and peace of mind while continually limiting the risk of explosive gas mixtures, mainly during sea transport, unloading and tank cleaning. With our dedicated team of FPS experts, Alfa Laval can deliver a wide variety of inert gas and flue gas systems according to marine standard specifications – whether below deck or in hazardous areas, single- or dual-fuel fired, or package-mounted modules. Sound environmental performance today and tomorrow To keep pace with upcoming environmental legislation, Alfa Laval continually broadens and improves our product portfolio. We devote considerable R&D resources to improve the ease of operation and maintenance and further lower the environmental impact of our solutions. For instance, we achieved significant NOx emissions reductions per produced energy unit from our fired boilers by developing low NOx combustion systems and installing economizers and waste heat recovery units (WHRUs). Expertise in inert gas systems and hot-water/steam boiler systems especially suited for use on board floating production systems. Below: Designed specifically for FPSs, the Aalborg D boiler operates at pressures of 40 bar and temperatures of up to 400°C. 2005 Global FPS organisation set-up at Aalborg Industries in Denmark for both new equipment and services. 2005 Service company set up in Macaé, Brazil, specifically for FPS segment (maintenance contracts and service). 2006 Gosfern Pty Ltd in Australia (combustion and safety technology) acquired by Aalborg Indsutries, Denmark. 2006 Smit Gas BV in the Netherlands (engineering and global marketing of inert gas systems) acquired by Aalborg Industries, Denmark. 2010 Formation of dedicated global FPS centre in Singapore to manage all FPS projects globally. 2011 Alfa Laval acquires Aalborg Industries A/S.
