SEAS-NVE Progress Report to the UN Global Compact in 2016 UN Global Compact - Corporate social responsibility The UN Global Compact is the world's largest initiative for Corporate Social/Sustainable Responsibility (CSR). It is an international initiative launched by the UN in 2000 with the intention to involve private companies in solving the social and environmental challenges of globalisation. The organisation currently has more than 12,000 registered companies in 140 countries and as a member of the Global Compact, SEAS-NVE has pledged to support the following ten principles for responsible business in its strategic work and daily activities, divided into four main groups: Human Rights 6 - Principle 1: The company should support and respect protection of internationally proclaimed human rights. - Principle 2: Ensure that they do not contribute to the suppression of human rights. Labour rights - Principle 3: The company should uphold the freedom of association and effectively recognise the right to collective bargaining. - Principle 4: Support elimination of all forms of forced labour. - Principle 5: Support effective abolition of child labour. - Principle 6: Eliminate discrimination in employment and occupational relationships. Environment - Principle 7: The company should support a precautionary approach to environmental challeng- es. - Principle 8: Take initiative to promote greater environmental responsibility. - Principle 9: Encourage development and dissemination of environmentally friendly technolo- gies. Anti-corruption - Principle 10: The company should work against all forms of corruption, including extortion and bribery. Reporting When a company joins the UN Global Compact, they must prepare an annual Progress Report, Communications on Progress (COP). This report must be submitted to the UN Global Compact and published immediately afterwards on the initiative's website.
