The struct ture of the research ce entre with many m of our r researchers s being part‐ ‐time clinicia ans, and oth hers having no specified d time for r research at t all, dema ands that w we are aw ware of the e extraordina are challenge es this pose es. Evidence e‐based diag gnostics and d therapy req quires, to some extent, t that all our e employees p participate in n some or all of the area as leading fro om conceptiion to the dissemination n of the scien nce. This has meant that we have priioritized teac ching via the e construction of a core‐curriculum within n endocrin nology, and d participatio on of most of f our physicians in the te eaching this implies. Our r initiative ha as led to a m more rapid adoption of t the science, and that the e individual research gr roups’ road to develo ping their science has s become more transpa arent. Furthermore, and d important tly, this has s broadened the number r of individuals taking p art in this aspect of our r department t’s life. Curre ently, we are e in the 4th y year of our 5 5 year appointment as a n Elite Research Centre. . Our Adviso ory Board, which w we ow we enormou us gratitude for their un nselfish and willing participation in n offering con t the risks o nstructive gu uidance, has pointed out of trying to cover all area as of endocr rinology at a a high level. In the coming years we w will try to ste eer clear of t the traps, acc cept the cha llenges, and follow their r eve better sy ynergy betwe een the research groups, , as one of m many major c challenges. advise, in order to achie During 2015 5, The EFE has published d more than 140 papers (>30 with an n impact fact tor >5) and s several book k chapters, an nd participat ted in over 1 150 talks aro und the glob be. Our unit has grown to o include 6 p professors, a a number of associated professors p with w protecte ed research time, and 47 PhD‐stude ents. 15 PhD D‐students, a a mber, have received the eir academic d, not forge etting their supervisors, , record num c degrees this year and deserve our r greatest respect for the eir achievem ments. Many of our resea archers have been award ded prizes as s an acknowl ledgment of f their work, and are co ongratulated with their accomplishm a ments.
