7.2 Rev. 3-08 Shaded area indicates changes MUELLER® GAS PHUSE® EXCESS FLOW VALVE SELECTION CHARTS Mueller AUTOSAFE® products are available with Gas-Phuse Excess Flow Valves in two sizes to meet the normal range of service requirements. The proper size of the Gas-Phuse valve will not interrupt normal service flow even at peak or surge flows, but will provide effective, automatic shut-off when excessive flow occurs. To select the correct Gas-Phuse valve, four factors must be considered. 1) length of service line; 2) main pressure; 3) size and type of service pipe; and 4) size of meter. In these charts, you can readily find your specific system design criteria and the Gas-Phuse valve to meet your requirements. 1. Select the chart that includes the approximate length of service line from main to meter. 2. In the left hand column of the chart find the minimum pressure in the main at the location of the Autosafe product. Read across to your service pipe size to determine which size GasPhuse valve to use* These Gas-Phuse sizing procedures will cover the normal range of single family dwelling service requirements. For multiple family dwellings or for service requirements not covered in the charts (such as service pipe of unusual length or size, meter sizes larger than those recommended, different specific gravity, etc.) contact Mueller Co. with specific information. Once you have determined the size of the Gas-Phuse valve you need, select the appropriate Autosafe product.
