The FICT Assembly in Paris During today's meeting in Paris on 5 November 2015 the FICT has proved still to have focus on freight transport in Europe. From various member states under the FICT, there have been issued new reports/visions: "Unfair competition in road transport" and "Fair Transport Europe" where it is still a problem with cabotage in Europe. The FICT has continuously worked with the problems of cabotage, and has through this work had a report worked out in 2011 concerning "Economic and social impacts of the announced end of road cabotage restrictions in Europe". Cabotage creates competition on unequal terms, which in the long run is not a sustainable situation with regads to the employment opportunities and investment climate. This is the reason why the FICT at the next general meeting in 2016 will try to continue working on possible actions to bring focus on the problems and search for models to solve them in the future. Besides the problems of cabotage transport, which can also be found within European shipping, the FICT constantly contributes to the process of improving the framework for the European transport sector. By an improved framework within logistics, including ports as well as trains and airports within the EU, a solid basis for increased Investments within the transport sector is created. An enhanced transport sector will be better able to meet the demand for transportation of people and goods while generating jobs through an effective and environmental transport infrastructure in Europe in the future.
