New sloped T-board protector Another innovative improvement for Mark Q Long before the Mark Q design, the sloped T-board protector was an MCI hallmark. The robust choice of materials and the ingenious slope reduced impact damage from fork lift wheels in a critical area of the reefer container. Now our engineers have taken this design further. In response to customer requirements, the protector now features an even sturdier, stronger design while the gap between the T-board end and the door has been reduced. If damage does occur, the spare part is both cheaper to procure and the design easier to repair for a depot, reducing M&R costs. That’s what we call win-win! Advantages of the new sloped T-board protector Strong design The thicker top flange and legs make the new design even stronger than the former protector - by factor of 5! The welded area is now protected, meaning that there is no direct fork-lift load on the welded seam. Reduced distance to door For customers concerned with the potential shifting of the last row of boxes, the new design has reduced the unsupported area by 26 mm. Servicability / repairability The T-board protector shares the same multi-piece sloped design like its predecessor. That keeps M&R costs down in the event of repair. In addition, the weld on the new design, is less complicated for the repair depot. 14 mm No direct load on the welded seam Reduced distance between floor and container door (131 mm). FEM analysis indicated what repeated fork lift cycle tests confirmed - the new design is stronger by a factor of 5. STRESS TEST AFTER TEST No deformation after 100-cycles stress tests with a 7-ton fork lift.
