Half Year Report 2007 (1 January 2007 - 30 June 2007) - Unaudited Profit for the 1st half year of 2007 in accordance with the expected DSB’s profit before tax totalled DKK 369 million. The result is DKK 115 million lower than the same period last year (DKK 484 million), which is primarily due to increased financial expenses and decreasing revenue from traffic contracts. The result is in accordance with the expected. Passenger revenues increased compared with 2006 Passenger revenues totalled DKK 2,120 million in the 1st half year of 2007 (DKK 2,105 million) corresponding to an increase of DKK 15 million compared with 2006. Profit before depreciation, amortisation and write-downs decreased to DKK 1,306 million (DKK 1,382 million) The decrease can primarily be ascribed to the decreasing revenues from transport contracts of DKK 49 million. This decrease is due to more rigorous terms in the transport contracts with the Government. More passengers The number of passengers on the long-distance and regional train lines increased by 4 per cent to 33.2 million passengers. In particular, there has been an increase in the number of passengers across the Øresund. DSB S-trains saw an overall decrease of 2 per cent compared with 2006. Improved punctuality in the 1st half year Punctuality improved considerably compared with 2006 in spite of the speed reductions introduced by Banedanmark in June as a result of overheated tracks. Punctuality reached 89.9 per cent for long-distance and regional trains and 92.9 per cent for Strains. The risk of overheated tracks during the summer period prompted DSB to implement a new summer timetable for long-distance and regional trains on 1 July. First IC4 train in operation On 25 June DSB put the first IC4 train set in trial operation with passengers between Århus and Aalborg. The results from the trial operation have been more positive than is normally the case when introducing new rolling stock. On 19 June 2007 Trafikstyrelsen issued an extended approval which means that the trial operation now also comprises the line Århus-Fredericia-Padborg. Furthermore, on 14 August 2007 DSB received permission for trial operation for yet another train set. A schedule for introducing the IC4 train into the national traffic is expected in the autumn. DSB and First Group won the Øresund bid On 27 June DSBFirst was chosen as the coming passenger train operator on Kystbanen, Kastrupbanen and in Southern Sweden. Takeover of operations is planned to take place in January 2009. Strengthening of the organisation In April 2007 DSB implemented a major change of the organisation and in this context, the Group management has been reinforced through the appointment of Mogens Jønck as Commercial Director. Outlook for profits before tax in 2007 maintained DSB maintains expectations to profits before tax in 2007 in the region of DKK 600 million, which were announced in the annual report for 2006. 27 August 2007 DSB Group SE no. 64 17 13 13 Central bus. reg. no. 25050053 DSB Sølvgade 40 DK - 1349 København K Tel : +45 33 14 04 00 Internet www.dsb.dk
