1st Quarter 2007 (1 January 2007 - 31 March 2007) – Unaudited Better train product in the 1st quarter 2007 DSB recorded profits of DKK 179 million before tax. The result is DKK 66 million lower than the same period last year (DKK 245 million), which is primarily due to increased financial expenses and decreasing revenue from transport contracts. The result is in accordance with the expected. Passenger revenues in line with 2006 Passenger revenues totalled DKK 1,008 million in the 1st quarter of 2007 (DKK 1,009 million) and is therefore in line with 2006. Profit before depreciation, amortisation and write-downs decreased to DKK 665 million (DKK 700 million) The decrease can primarily be ascribed to the decreasing revenues from transport contracts of DKK 29 million. This decrease is due to more rigorous terms in the transport contracts with the Government. More passengers on the long-distance and regional train lines The number of passengers on the long-distance and regional train lines increased by 5 per cent to 16.0 million passengers. Especially the lines in East-Denmark, including Kystbanen and the train services across Øresund, have seen an increase in the numbers of passengers. On the S-train network there has been a decrease of 2 per cent in the 1st quarter of 2007 compared to the same period in 2006, which i.a. can be attributed to DSB no longer operating the Lille-Nord line. Improved punctuality in the 1st quarter Punctuality in the 1st quarter of 2007 reached 91.0 per cent for long-distance and regional trains and 93.1 per cent for S-trains, which is far above the level for the same period in 2006. The improvements are due partly to the implementation of a new timetable for the long-distance and regional lines, and partly to the effect of the many other initiatives, which have been implemented to improve punctuality. Furthermore, there have e.g. been fewer track works in the 1st quarter on the S-train network compared to the same period in 2006. DSB has submitted application for commissioning the IC4 train with passengers On 19 May DSB submitted an application to Trafikstyrelsen for commissioning the IC4 train with passengers on the section between Århus and Aalborg. The previously carried out test runs of the IC4 trains without passengers in mixed traffic have been concluded satisfactorily, and based on this, AnsaldoBreda has carried out an upgrading of the software. Subsequently, a number of dynamic tests have been carried out with equally positive results and good progress. DSB expects to hold a press briefing in June with an updated status on the continued process. 21 May 2007 DSB Group SE nr. 64171313 Central bus. reg. no. 25050053 DSB Sølvgade 40 Dk-1349 Copenhagen K Tel. +45 33 14 04 00 Internet www.dsb.dk Expectations to profit before tax for 2007 maintained DSB maintains expectations for profits before tax in 2007 in the region of DKK 600 million, which were announced in the annual report for 2006.
